In many symbolic systems,
there is a figure often called “The Fool.”
Not foolish in the ordinary sense.
But the one who stands at the beginning of a journey.
Uncertain.
Open.
Unburdened by previous identities.
In career transitions, I often see this stage.
A moment when someone has to step away from:
Titles
Expectations
External validation
And face the path ahead without guarantees.
The “beginner” is not naive.
The beginner is courageous.
Because starting over always requires a willingness to not know.
In advisory work, I find symbolic archetypes helpful —
not to predict outcomes,
but to reflect stages of growth we all go through.
Every meaningful career shift begins here.
At the edge of the known world.
